Black version, other colors available
It’s funny because the Bulova Hack isn’t a market leader in any area. Yet, I find myself gravitating to it far more than expected, following my comparison with the Hamilton Khaki.
Partly, I think it’s down to the fully committed vintage design, which is based on the original Second World War Hack watch that saw military action.
Originally, the Hack watch featured a hand-wound movement, but this updated offering replaces this with a modern Miyota automatic. Admittedly, the unit inside this watch does result in the Hack being rather chunky, but the steep lugs help rein in its wrist presence.
While the water resistance is low, the strap is one of the best I’ve encountered on a low-cost watch, with a smooth comfortable finish that’s more than usable. The unit I reviewed had a cream dial, though currently the black dial version is more readily available at the time of writing.
For pure personality, I’d consider the Bulova Hack as a field watch option.
