A best-seller on a number of online watch retailers, the Seiko SRPH89 provides a classic look for an affordable price. When testing it for my best minimalist watches shortlist, I noticed that this model felt as well-built as the expensive Seiko ‘Cocktail Time’ models, if not more so. My favorite part of this watch is the unexpected frosted handset, a delicate touch typically found on higher-end watches like the Orient Star Classic.
The SRPH89 beats other dress watches in terms of water resistance, at 10 bar, though with it’s chic green color, this one is clearly primed for formal occasions.
Other dress watches on our list are sleeker than this one, which is a tad chunky at 11.8mm. There’s a quartz version of this watch available, the SUR399, if you’re after something slimmer and more accurate.
