In fact, you’ll usually be able to get most of these watches for well under £100 using the links throughout this article. And, if you’re a guy reading this, maybe these could be some good gift suggestions to ask for this year.

I’ve tried loads of wristwatches over the years, so I’m confident in recommending each of these to you as I think they’re among the best in this price range.

7 GIFT WATCHES FOR HIM

Casio A158

When we mention gift watches, there’s one brand that instantly comes to mind. The ever-popular Japanese company Casio has a huge range of low-cost digital watches to choose from. My personal pick is the Silver A158W. This one is really cheap, usually available for about £20 and is surprisingly versatile given its small size. This watch really gives a casual understated look, with a bit of added retro charm, it’s definitely one of the better-looking digital watches around. Loads of men out there love these Casio watches and this model may be a great affordable addition to their watch collection. It’s also one that will last a fair while, as these watches are known to be almost indestructible.

Key features:

  • Super low cost

  • Durable

  • Retro look

  • Digital functionality

Timex Fairfield

The Timex Fairfield is arguably the best cheap minimalist watch out there. If the guy in question needs a watch for both day to day, but also for more dressy occasions, then this is a good choice. This one features a great Indiglo night light feature and also comes in two different sizes. One at 37mm, ideal for smaller wrists and the standard 41mm version, great for larger wrists. I’ve recommended this one before and wear it regularly because it looks decent and is really comfortable. Normally you can grab one of these watches for between £40 and £80, making it pretty solid value for money and very affordable for most people. This watch does play things a bit safe, but as a result is an easy pleaser.

Key features:

  • Stylish look

  • Good quality for the price

  • Comes in 2 sizes for small or larger wrists

Invicta Pro Diver

best-mens-watches-under-200 (1).jpg

If you’re after a gift watch that looks like a Rolex, then the Invicta Pro Diver may be an option that you can actually afford. While it’s not for everyone, this watch does definitely look much more expensive than the price tag would suggest and gives that submariner look for less. Additionally, you also get the choice of a standard battery powered quartz movement or a nice Seiko automatic movement, if you want something a bit more special. There’s no doubt this is a clear step up from some of the cheap Rolex clones out there and I think it’s definitely worth the money.

Key features:

-        Best value diver in the price range

-        Rolex submariner styling

-        Quartz or automatic models

-        Variety of colours

Timex Fairfield Chronograph

best-mens-watches-under-100.jpg

A lot of people like to give chronograph watches as gifts for men; I think because they look clearly different than many of the kids watches you can get these days. The chronograph version of the Fairfield is one of the more modern looking ones available these days and is one of the best options in this price range. You get similar minimalist styling to the Timex I mentioned previously, but three complications on the dial and a far less audible ticking noise make this a great gift choice in itself. You’ll find a bunch of these in different colours on Amazon, including some of the Southview Chronographs, which are the same, just featuring Roman numerals instead.

Key features:

  • Modern, minimalist chronograph

  • Lots of colours to choose from

Seiko Analogue Quartz Watch SNDC3

For a more vintage looking chronograph, I’d recommend this Seiko from the SNDC series. With this one, you get classic styling with great build quality, considering the cost. This one has a strong 100m of water resistance and includes date functionality. By default, it comes fitted with a calfskin leather strap, which is a nice touch too. The cream version looks good, but I think the black one looks phenomenal considering the cost, though that version is a tiny bit over this post’s budget.

Key features:

  • Classic looking chronograph

  • Solid build quality

Seiko 5

Alternatively, you could look at the Seiko 5 range. This range of watches offer phenomenal value for money; many of them looking like they’re twice their asking price, especially with the addition of an automatic movement, which gives the second hand an awesome sweep. There is a huge selection to choose from, so you’re bound to find a style that will suit the recipient. Loads of these watches are around the £100 mark, so they don’t break the bank either. The one I have here is the SNK793K1, which has a stylish navy dial and a pretty simple appearance, which looks great with a variety of outfits.

Key features:

  • Massive selection

  • Great automatic movement

  • Versatile designs

Orient Bambino

I’d say the best gift dress watch is probably the Orient Bambino. The version I have here is the Version 3, there are actually a few different versions and colours available. Over on my wristwatch channel, I called this ‘the benchmark for affordable watches’ for good reason. For only £100, you essentially get a dress watch that looks like a £300 one. This one features a beautiful slim design, with domed glass. You have a great level of case finishing and within there is an in-house automatic movement. If I received one of these as a gift, I’d be extremely pleased. While the regular version sits nicely at 41mm, they do have a smaller 36mm version, which may suit smaller wrists better.

Key features:

  • Looks like a £300 dress watch

  • Slim design

  • Fantastic quality

  • Also have 36mm version for small wrists
